What is Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP)?
Public Health Preparedness (PHP) means planning and putting in place programs to respond quickly and effectively to threats endangering the health of the public. Some of these threats are West Nile Virus, pandemic influenzaand foodborne illness. Midland Health & Senior Services is working with its partners in the community, neighboring counties and the state to assure the most effective response possible to outbreaks of disease and other public health threats and emergencies.
What are PHEP responsibilities?
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Section is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, department-wide approach to public health preparedness and response activities. Activities include:
Coordinating planning for all-hazards preparedness activities such as Medical Countermeasures Dispensing, Mass Care & Shelter Operations, Volunteer Management and Mass Casualty Response.
Providing scientific and clinical oversight for public health preparedness activities.
