Operations

Fire:

The Midland Fire Department operates ten stations in the City and one Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) station at Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF). The MFD utilizes ten engines, two brush trucks, one Tender, one Truck Company, three squads, two Hazmat trucks, seven ambulances, and three ARFF trucks to serve the citizens of Midland. These units provide fire, Hazmat, vehicle extrication, technical rescue, swift water rescue, and emergency medical services (EMS) for the entire 902 square miles of Midland County and respond to over 19,000 calls a year.

EMS:

MFD operates seven front-line ambulances across town. These units are all basic life support (BLS) with mobile intensive care unit (MICU) capabilities. At least one certified paramedic staffs every EMS unit. Each new-hire is required to complete medic school and obtain their paramedic certification, giving the MFD a well-trained and accredited crew on every ambulance. These crews respond to close to 15,000 emergencies a year, ranging from cardiac events, strokes, traumas, and other medical emergencies.

ARFF:

The Midland Fire Department operates the ARFF station at Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF). MAF is a Class C index airport with over 20 commercial flights a day, numerous general aviation flights, and military flights. Responding with 3 ARFF trucks, MFD's ARFF station has the capability to handle all potential aircraft emergencies and medical emergencies at the terminal. This response coverage allows the MAF to function as a full-service military fuel stop, accommodating everything from T-37s and rotary-wing aircraft to 117As and B-1Bs.
